AKU-HDP aims to demonstrate, through education, applied research, community ECD programme models and targeted advocacy, that substantial investments towards quality care of the unborn child and young children have demonstrable impacts on later learning, behaviour, mental and physical health. In RCC, AKU-HDP has a technical advisory role, and is also involved in:
1. Capacity building at the community and the professional/managerial level in ECD;
2. Conducting research studies with implementing partners;
3. Working with partners in select RCC communities to extend their models of ECD programmes in schools to include family-focused programming for the unborn child and infants; and
4. Ongoing policy-focused advisory support to the Government of Pakistan.
